Job Overview:

As the Logistics Coordinator your will, be responsible for fleet management and tipper drivers, you will oversee the efficient operation of tipper trucks, ensuring timely and safe transportation of materials.

Your role involves coordinating driver schedules, managing fleet maintenance, and liaising with clients to meet their transportation needs while adhering to regulatory requirements and company policies.


Key Responsibilities:

Driver Management:


  • Recruit, train, and supervise tipper drivers, ensuring compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and performance standards.
  • Schedule driver shifts, assignments, and routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and implement training programs for skill enhancement.

Fleet Coordination:


  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs for tipper trucks to minimize downtime and ensure vehicles are in optimal working condition.
  • Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, and maintenance schedules to control costs and maximize fleet efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with vehicle licensing, inspections, and insurance requirements.

Logistics Planning:


  • Collaborate with dispatchers to plan and optimize transportation routes, considering factors such as distance, traffic, and load capacity.
  • Coordinate with clients and suppliers to schedule deliveries and pickups, ensuring timely and accurate transportation of materials.
  • Monitor and track shipments, providing realtime updates to stakeholders and addressing any issues or delays proactively.

Safety and Compliance:


  • Enforce safety protocols and regulatory compliance, including driver hoursofservice regulations, vehicle weight limits, and hazardous materials handling procedures.
  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety and minimize accidents or incidents.
  • Investigate and report accidents or violations, implement corrective actions, and liaise with regulatory authorities as necessary.

Client Relationship Management:


  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with sales and business development teams to identify opportunities for expanding services, securing new contracts, and enhancing client relationships.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and service agreements with clients to optimize profitability and ensure mutual benefit.

Budgeting and Cost Control:


  • Develop and manage operating budgets, including expenses for fuel, maintenance, personnel, and equipment.
  • Analyse financial data, identify costsaving opportunities, and implement strategies to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to track progress and make datadriven decisions.

OCCAISIONAL Driving Tipper and Ad hoc duties:

  • Specializing in tipper trucks, you will be responsible for safely operating and manoeuvring heavy goods vehicles, primarily tippers, to transport materials such as aggregates, sand, gravel, or waste. You will ensure the timely and secure delivery of goods to designated locations while adhering to relevant regulations and company policies.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to track progress and make datadriven decisions.
  • Maintain a high level of customer satisfaction by providing exceptional service.
  • Train and supervise new drivers to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Attend Continuous professional development and relevant training.
  • Perform all other duties required from time to time.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Qualifications and Skills:


  • Bachelor's degree in logistics, transportation management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Proven experience in operations management, preferably in the haulage or transportation industry, with a focus on tipper trucks.
  • Strong leadership and personnel management skills, with the ability to motivate and mentor a diverse team.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Indepth knowledge of transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and systems for route planning, fleet management, and tracking.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyse data, identify trends, and make informed decisions to optimize operations.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, work under pressure, and handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently.
