Purpose
This role will support the delivery of the UK Research Partnership Investment Fund (UKRPIF) and provide policy support to the research infrastructure team within the research directorate.
You will be well-organised and self-motivated with an interest in the higher education sector.
You will be capable of working both within a team and more independently, and will play a key role in developing and delivering projects with others.
You will have good attention to detail and be able to develop strong working relationships with stakeholders at a range of levels of seniority.
Job description:
Main outputs and activities
The areas outlined are initial areas of responsibility:
You will provide support to the research funding team (Head of Research Infrastructure and two Senior Policy Advisors) to deliver and monitor the delivery of Research England's competitive infrastructure scheme (UKRPIF).
Contribute to the delivery of UKRPIF:
- Manage the monitoring the current UKRPIF projects, communicating with project contacts and providing updates to the Head of Research Infrastructure and Associate Director of Research as well as liaising with the infrastructure team and RE colleagues.
- Contribute to the delivery of UKRPIF round 7, including providing secretariat support for the Assessment Panel, managing queries, and supporting the Senior Policy Adviser.
- Support the development of UKRPIF evaluation framework to provide a programme level evaluation, engaging with stakeholders to implement a successful evaluation.
- Contribute to activity to prepare for Research England's case for funding at the Spending Review including analysis and interpretation of evidence leading to the drafting of papers, evidence and supporting business cases
- Contribute to the development of the capital formula approach for Research England including the processes for monitoring.
Person specification:
Shortlisting Criteria
- Experience managing projects and working collaboratively to deliver outputs
- Ability to manage own workload, resolve competing demands, and cope with changing priorities in a flexible and proactive way
- Experience analysing and interpreting complex information to draw conclusions and inform recommendations
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders both orally and in writing
- Experience of working effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Graduate level qualifications or equivalent demonstrable experience
- Flexibility to travel to meetings, including in locations that may require travel outside of work hours
