Are you a social media officer with an interest in government and politics?
Allen Lane are delighted to be supporting our central government client in the recruitment of a Digital and Social Media Officer to develop and deliver digital content, with a focus on social media.
You will increase the NAO's impact by creating engaging digital content and supporting NAO spokespeople with their professional use of social media.
It is a hands-on communications delivery role that requires creative thinking, attention to detail and the ability to target audiences to make sure communicationsplans and activities achieve maximum impact.
Main responsibilities:
- Write and edit engaging social media, optimised for different channels, in line with the NAO's tone and style.
- Write and edit other digital content, such as blogs and newsletters, in line with the NAO's tone and style.
- Lead and advise others on how to use social media for maximum impact.
- Help to develop a social video strategy and, working with our design team, produce social video.
- Work closely with NAO colleagues at all levels in the organisation to build their professional use of social media, especially LinkedIn, to increase the impact of their work.
- Improve how we proactively and reactively become more present and involved in online discussion on topics relevant to our work
- Use social media tools to understand, engage and grow our online communities.
- Evaluate and report on key metrics and impact, and use data to drive content development
- Work closely with colleagues in the Communications team to ensure integrated external communications across different channels
- Keep up to date with innovation and trends in social media and digital content
We are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
Essential:
- Strong communication skills, with experience writing, editing and creating content for different audiences, especially on Twitter and LinkedIn, and producing clear and engaging copy in an appropriate tone.
- Editorial judgement to turn complex messages into content that will engage target audiences, with an eye on detail and accuracy.
- Confident engaging with colleagues at all levels, providing communication advice, and generating commitment to goals.
- Able to work creatively and with a good appreciation for design in communications.
- Able to work to tight deadlines.
- Proactive and ambitious to deliver high performance and achieve successful business outcomes through self and others.
- Interest in the political landscape and how government and the public sector works.
Desired:
- Experience using social media scheduling, monitoring and analytics tools, and using data to inform content development.
- Experience supporting internal and/or external stakeholders with their professional use of social media
- Experience of producing videos for social media and other digital channels.
- Experience using website analytics tools
- Experience of planning and managing multiple projects at the same time.
- Basic skills in graphics design software such as Adobe Photoshop.
- Experience of working with content management systems.
- Experience working with creative design teams.
- Experience of working in a political, government or other public sector role.
