As a Technical Administrator you will support the design team in the day to day running of the office but will particularly focus on taking ownership of the company NER system (New Engineering Request).


You will be responsible for all customer requirements from a technical aspect ensuring that the customer is offered the product(s) which meet the specification; this includes dealing with new internal product requests, product variations, system development projects, vendor questionnaires and project technical queries.

British Engines Group Company, CMP Products, is a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of cable glands, cable cleats and cable accessories.

CMP manufactures its products from three facilities based in Cramlington, Northumberland, and has a global distribution network, supported by ten offices spread across six continents from Houston, USA, to Busan in South Korea.


What you'll be doing

  • Be conversant with all company standard products and prevailing standards and specifications related to them
  • Be aware of the leading cable manufacturers, and be familiar with the recognised industry standard cable type terminology for commonly used cables and the relevant "Standards" applicable to these
  • Have a good understanding of hazardous area protection methods for electrical apparatus, and an ability to recognise corresponding standards, specifications, and codes of practice, particularly those relating to cable glands
  • Take ownership of the company NER system in response to customer requests for new products and product variations, utilising internal contacts in order to see the process from start to finish and continuous improvement of the associated systems
  • Have a good understanding of MRP systems and how they work (IFS), and have the ability to manipulate live data in order to create new parts, assemblies and bills of material (BOM's)
  • Assist in the preparation of technical queries and laboratory reports, as and when required, using office systems and tools, spreadsheets and word processors
  • Create and maintain a central technical area to hold all relevant documentation and information necessary to completing TQ's, Certification and Vendor Questionnaires
  • Communicate effectively with CMP internal and external personnel by telephone and Email to provide technical and general support
  • Work in a safe manner; driving positive behaviour and leading by example with regard to the company's health, safety and environmental policies
  • Carry out any other responsibilities not listed above as may reasonably be expected

Who we are looking for


To apply, we ask that you are numerate, have a strong eye for detail as well as the ability to produce accurate work.

Some experience in an office environment ideally within engineering would be advantageous, however full training will be given.

Excellent communication and time management skills are also essential for this role as is being organised and self-motivated. Good IT skills, particularly word, excel, and ideally a knowledge of database packages (IFS), are also required.

This position will be on a full time, permanent basis working 35 hours per week, dayshift.
