Verus Recruitment Partners is seeking a highly motivated Lead Estimating Engineer to join our client's engineering team and be part of a global leader in the aerospace and automotive engineering sector.

As the Lead Estimating Engineer, you will bring your expertise to help continue their success while working closely with the engineering and business development teams to fully understand customer requirements and translate them into competitive bids.

We are ideally looking for someone with at least 5 years of experience in a similar sector and a strong background in reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.

It would also be beneficial to have a broad understanding of aerospacemanufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the engineering and purchasing teams to develop a proposed manufacturing route and agree on material and tooling requirements.
  • Generate implementation plans, project resource plans, and capital expenditure requirements.
  • Lead gate review workshops and generate presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate all estimates for two sites in the UK.
  • Generating Component Cost Work sheets for new customers.
To be successful in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar industry with a broad understanding of aerospace manufacturing.
  • Strong experience in reviewing and interpreting aerospace engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in generating estimates for complex steel and titanium fabrications.
  • Experience/understanding in some of the following manufacturing processes:
  • Multi-axis machining and turning.
  • Nonconventional machining laser, EDM, FHD.
  • Welding and fabrication.
  • Sheet metal forming and fabrication including hydrobulge forming.
  • Heat treatment/brazing/SPF/Hot forming.
  • Aerospace coatings painting/plasma.
  • NDT/Xray/Airflow.
  • Chemical processing cleaning, etching, chemical milling, electroforming.
(Our client does not expect experience in all of the above. This is a list of all manufacturing processes across both sites, and we are ideally looking for someone to have experience with as many as possible.)

  • Educated with a bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or a related discipline.
