Overview:
First Military Recruitment are currently supporting our client in the search for a Production Planner.
This role gives you opportunity to play a major part in an autonomous manufacturing team and to work with the management team in meeting business objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities of a Production Planner:
- To plan production on a daily basis to meet customer demand and target stock levels directing work through the Team Leaders.
- To prepare job cards (route cards, inspection instructions, green orders) and ensure that they are fit for purpose in terms of clarity of information and instruction.
- To maintain controlled drawing register (hard copy drawings) to review prior to release after issue when job is repeating and to ensure good quality copies are maintained in job pack.
- Review and update any job packs in light of customer concerns, suggestions or internal defect reports.
- To maintain job boards to ensure smooth changeovers and to maximise press efficiency and where practical make use of SMED disciplines.
- Maximise capacity/efficiency through efficient resource utilisation.
- Ensure production targets and quality standards are achieved.
- Plan workload to minimise scrap.
- Plan workload to minimise line clean downs (plastic punching's etc.).
- With Maintenance Manager and Maintenance Technician ensure all maintenance is planned in at optimum times; work with maintenance team to ensure machinery is capable of meeting production needs.
- Monitor job packs ensure paperwork is clean and remains legible.
- Liaise with technical personnel over company competencies in terms of company manufacturing capabilities and build up own skills and knowledge in this area.
- Liaise with the buyer/Toolroom to ensure that materials and tooling are available to ensure smooth execution of the plan.
- To check purchase orders for material both in terms of correct width, gauge tonnage as well as the technical specification.
- Liaise with sales to ensure the production plan meets the requirements of agreements reached with customers.
- To monitor, analyse and improve on customer delivery performance to work with others to ensure min on time delivery is achieved % as agreed.
- To resolve any customer delivery discrepancies.
- To inform on orders complete for despatch and to consider the implications of transport costs and delivery times
- To take part in any continual improvement programmes.
- To attend Management meetings and play active part in suggestions for improvements including presentation and slides for weekly meeting.
- Promote Health, Safety and Environmental best practice.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Manufacturing with a mechanical background.
- Able to use measuring equipment (micrometres/Vernier's).
- Experience of best practice (SMED 5S etc.).
- Good communication and leadership.
- Able to read technical drawings.
- PC literate.
- Maintain key skills on all presses to ensure skills and knowledge remain updated.
- Encourages new ideas and gives feedback in fair and consistent manner.
- Able to communicate at all levels.
- Flexible.

- Attention to detail.
- Able to provide clear and concise information at all levels.
