This post has been allocated to NHFT as part of the NHSE commitment to delivery of the Oliver McGowan training across the Health and Social Care workforce.

The lead trainer is responsible for delivering the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism to patient facing and non-patient facing staff, who work in health and social care across the Northamptonshire Region (across ICS).

The individual will also be responsible for the training of Oliver McGowan Trainers, facilitator co-trainers and Experts by Lived Experience (EbLE) co-trainers.

As the programme expands to take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Oliver McGowan training Team adhering to Code of Practice.


The lead trainer is responsible for delivering the learning disability and autism training to patient facing and non-patient facing staff, who work in health and social care across the Northamptonshire Region.

The individual will also be responsible for the training of Oliver McGowan Trainers, facilitator co-trainers and Experts by Lived Experience (EbLE) co-trainers.

This role is 12-month fixed term and will be working across the Northamptonshire Integrated Care System, based in the Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (NHFT) Transforming Care Team, reporting to the Autism and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Assurance Lead.


You will:


Focus on leading and supporting Experts by Lived Experience (EbLE) co-trainers who will be autistic people and people with a learning disability.

Along with the co-trainers you will deliver training to health and social care staff across Northamptonshire.


Be responsible for training new members of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism delivery Team (Train the Trainer).

This will include delivering training to facilitators and EbLE, quality assurance of training and evaluating feedback from attendees.


In addition, you will:


Contribute to developing and managing the wider team's Oliver McGowan roll out plan in association with the funders - HEE, progress and reporting risk and issue management via the various governance groups.


Take a lead in the coordination of training & development and recruitment activity across the Oliver McGowan training Team adhering to HEE guidelines.
