Description
We are looking for a Part Time Cook to join our team within a residential care home setting.

Hours are 8am - 5pm, including alternate Sundays, working 1 days one week and 2 the next.

Uniform is provided.

Main Purpose of Job:


  • To be part of a team that ensures the cleanliness of the kitchen and to prepare, cook and serve homely nutritious foods
  • To take delegated responsibility in the kitchen, to the appropriate level.
  • To ensure the provisions of an efficient catering operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To carry out all company duties, tasks and responsibilities in accordance with the company's principles of catering, whilst ensuring the safety, care and wellbeing of services users and colleagues at all times.
  • To assist the kitchen assistant in general cleaning and spring cleaning of the food preparation and serving areas.
  • To ensure the service users have a good dining experience
  • Always interact with residents, relatives, visitors and coworker in a polite dignified and respectful manner.
  • Handle food in accordance with the service user's choice, dietary requirements, and preferred methods in a safe and hygienic manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all issues and information relating to service users within the bounds of the company's policy on confidentiality and observe service users rights.
  • Comply with COSHH, Food Hygiene regulations and Environmental health regulations.
  • Read and keep up to date all company policy through policy and procedure and human resources manuals available within the homes and the company guidance notes issued to all staff and updated on a regular basis.
  • Completion of induction training
  • To attend staff meetings and company training.
  • To provide a respectable role model for service users and respect the integrity of the company at all times.
  • To report any suspicions, concerns, or witnessing any incidents affected the safety or wellbeing of service user's patients to a senior colleague immediately.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:


  • To maintain high hygiene practices following COSHH, Food Hygiene and Environmental Health regulations.
  • To work in line with Dolanog's policy, guidance and procedures.
  • To practice health and safety, food hygiene, security and fire precautions.
  • To undertake training to reach minimum standards as required by Social care wales.
  • To follow instructions as indicated by senior care staff/ manager on duty.
  • To report events of the day to senior on duty.
  • To attend staff meetings, supervisions and appraisals.
  • To prepare menus as agreed with management
  • To prepare nutritional food to a high standard taking into account special dietary requirements
  • To ensure/ assist kitchen assistant clears away dishes quickly and tidily
  • To undertake cleaning and maintain cleanliness of store rooms, fridges and freezers.
  • Rotate all stock on deliveries
  • Keep paperwork up to date
  • To conduct all procedures in the home with due regard to the food hygiene and health and safety legislation
  • Good conduct of dress
  • To undertake any other duties as necessary
