Join us as an Apprentice

  • Joining us in our Commercial & Institutional team in October 2024, you'll be provided all the technical training you'll need to be successful in your role

What you'll learn:

Taking on an apprentice role could be a fantastic starting point or change for your career.

You'll receive support every step of the way, with guidance, training and mentoring to help you reach your full potential.

Your line manager will set you up with goals and an individual learning plan, to help you complete professional qualifications or technical trainings


Your learning journey will include:

  • How organisations operate within the industry
  • Financial Services legal, regulatory, and compliance framework
  • The breadth of products and services available
  • Quantitative methods, accountancy, financial mathematics, statistics and economics
  • How to identify and use client/customer segments
  • Using systems and implementing/adhering to processes

CBI - Professional Qualification
The Chartered Banker Diploma is the highest-level qualification awarded by the Institute.

5 modules need to be completed, modules include Professionalism, Ethics and Regulation, Applied Business and Corporate Banking and Risk Management in Banking.

After completing the Chartered Banker Diploma, learners become qualified Members of the Institute.

As such, they will be entitled to use the professional designation 'Chartered Banker' and the designatory letters 'MCIBS' after their name.

Chartered Banker status is recognised across the UK and internationally as a hallmark of quality in the banking profession.

It will equip you to take your career forward in either retail or commercial banking and demonstrates your commitment to becoming highly competent within the sector.


What you'll do:


Once established in the programme, we'll look to you to support other new apprentices, using your experience to guide and support them.


You'll also be:

  • Completing your learning plan on time, which may include passing exams, submitting workbooks and providing evidence of your development
  • Working closely with your apprenticeship learning provider and developing positive relationships with a wide range of colleagues
  • Developing your knowledge and capabilities to undertake the job

The skills you'll need:

We're looking for people with a passion for learning and high levels of determination, motivation, and drive to succeed.

You'll have strong communication, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels.


You'll also need:

  • The ability to maintain a strong customer focus
  • An innovative and creative mindset
  • Good problem solving skills and a proactive and inquisitive mindset, with the ability to challenge and offer solutions
  • An analytical, numerate, and logical skillset with the ability to adapt well to change
  • Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage your time effectively

What else you need to know:


Eligibility:


It would be ideal if you can provide evidence of your grade A-C or Level 4, Maths and English GCSE or equivalent results, but this is not necessary to start with us as an apprentice.

If you didn't manage to achieve the desired grades or cannot provide evidence of your qualifications, then we'll help you to attain them during your apprenticeship.

80 UCAS points (A levels or BTECs in England and Highers or equivalent in Scotland)

You'll join on a competitive salary of between £24,750 - £29,745 depending on location and in addition you'll receive money to help you save for retirement.

You'll have a generous holiday entitlement of 28 days plus 8 bank holidays - you may be required to work bank holidays.
