The Role of Maintenance Operative

  • As a Maintenance Operative, the purpose of this role is to provide a repairs, maintenance (and if necessary grounds keeping role) so that the House or Home is maintained to a good standard of repair, and the grounds are kept neat and tidy.
  • In this varied role you will be responsible for the property maintenance of one or more of our Care Homes or Supported Housing services.
  • You'll need to ensure that all repairs are carried out effectively and to a good standard, with adherence to health and safety requirements and relevant building and construction related regulations.
  • You will also be able to readily identify emerging maintenance issues, and report them to the Home or House Manager, thereby minimising impact, risk and damage.
  • The role may also include gardening, especially during the summer. So you may also be responsible for keeping the grounds and gardens around the property neat and tidy.

About You

  • As the Maintenance Operative; you must have good general property maintenance knowledge and skills, and experience in providing maintenance services to other clients.
  • Be able to communicate and interact well with people, be able to read and write to a good standard, and computer literate.
  • Have good knowledge of relevant health and safety and trade regulations, and have the ability to assess and manage risk.
  • Importantly, you must have access to your own tools and supplies, and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
