Loughborough area with travel to Paris

Salary:
£40 - 55k + bonus scheme


Our client is a global leader in the development of scientific measurement instrumentation for use in environmental, climate and present weather monitoring.


Due to continued strong global growth they are looking for a Software Engineer (Back End) who is proficient in C++ to support the on-going development of their core open cloud platform, associated software suite and large-scale enterprise projects in severalglobal regions.

Initially you will be working on projects which provide the software to support national meteorological monitoring services, civil and military aviation and monitoring at international airports.


Role
Working as part of a collaborative team using AGILE SCRUM software development methodology you will:
Design and implement software components that fit into the company's open cloud platform and software suite.

Implement internal test code to ensure that the software is reliable and stable.

Document and present designs and deliverables to stakeholders and peers.

Evaluate customer feedback and research options.

Proficient in C++ essential.


At least 2 years of experience in software development with an ability to write clean, understandable code that follows best practices.

Knowledge or previous use of Java Framework / JavaScript, Go, , Angular and Docker would be an advantage.

Comfortable working with a range of technical documentation.

Must have excellent communication skills and be customer focused at all times.

Used to working as part of team, familiar with SCRUM and AGILE ways of working.


Desirable Technical Skills
Containers, including K8S, including exposure to EKS or AKS

OpenAPI and Swagger Documentation

FoundationDB, Postgres and similar relational database systems

HighCharts

Grafana

OpenLayer, GeoServer (WMS, WFS, WPS)

Unit testing frameworks such as Mocha or Cypress

GitOps development and exposure to GitLab

CI or CD processes

AWS (Amazon Web Services) and Microsoft Azure; (IaC, IaaS and PaaS)

VSCode or Visual Studio
