Summary of Job
To assist and support the Examinations Officer in the planning and co-ordinating of all examinations and assessments, ensuring they are conducted effectively, efficiently, and according to Joint Qualifications Council (JCQ) rules and regulations


Responsibilities

Examinations

  • To assist in the collection and dissemination of examrelated information to students, staff, and parents/carers, answering enquiries from all college stakeholders
  • To assist in the collation and processing of all examination entries, including resits, and the appropriate registration of students on Applied General courses (e.g. BTEC), in a timely manner
  • To liaise with the Examinations Officer, BTEC Nominee and Heads of Department during the January and Summer Exam Series for Applied General qualifications to ensure the requirements for all external assessments meet Exam Board regulations
  • To assist in the planning and coordination of the daily running of all external and internal
examinations and assessments in college, including language orals and practical examinations.

  • To assist in the recruitment and training of an invigilation team
  • To assist in the rooming, layout of rooms and seating for examinations
  • To assist in the preparation of all examination materials
  • To assist with the receipt of all examination papers, storing them securely, and checking they are available for timetabled examinations
  • To assist with the secure collation and timely despatch of examination scripts according to JCQ regulations
  • To assist with the provision of results to students and the administration of Post Results Services and Support
  • To assist with collating and arranging the distribution of qualification certificates
  • To deputise for the Examinations Officer in the event of their absence

General

  • To attend regular meetings with the Examinations Officer
  • To be willing to undertake regular training and development relating to the role
  • To participate in college line management and appraisal systems
  • To demonstrate an awareness and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion, health and safety and safeguarding
  • To carry out other tasks as may be reasonably required by the Examinations Officer
  • To carry out other reasonable requests as may be required from time to time by the Principal

PERSON SPECIFICATION FOR POST OF ASSISTANT EXAMINATIONS OFFICER

Essential Qualifications

  • Good general level of education to a minimum of A Level/BTEC Level 3.

Essential Experience and Skills

  • Working in a busy environment and under time pressure
  • Good computer skills with the ability to work in Excel
  • Dealing with confidential information and data
  • Proactive, selfstarting and able to manage own time
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills working with students/parents/colleagues
  • Experience of working effectively as a part of a team

  • Strong attention to detail with responsibility for own accuracy

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in Examinations or similar role in an educational setting

£7,794.00-£8,521.00 per year
