About Canterbury District Volunteer Centre
We deliver a number of services across the district including:

  • The assessment and referral of volunteers
  • A social car scheme.
  • Befriending services
  • Digital Skills project
  • Workshops, training and networking events
We are also a member of the Kent Volunteer Partnership.


Job Description:
Energy Support
Coordinator

  • Cocoordinate the daytoday administration of the service.
  • Deliver support to older people in the district via:
i) In person advice

ii) Telephone advice.

iv) Home visits

v) Outreach at local events

  • Recruit and support Volunteers to aid delivery of this project.
  • Induct, train and supervise Volunteers in their duties relating to the scheme.
  • Recruit potential beneficiaries for the project.
  • Liaise with the staff and volunteers involved in the delivery of our community projects on an ongoing basis.
  • Undertake home visits and needed.
  • Signpost, where appropriate, to external agencies including in regard to benefits advice; debt advice; fuel vouchers
  • Keep appropriate and up to date records in relation to all aspects of this project.
  • Support both volunteers and beneficiaries (as appropriate) engaging in the project.
  • Collate, analyze and present feedback from clients and volunteers.
  • Collate case studies and statistics.
  • Market the service to potential clients and other interested parties across the Canterbury District
  • The ability to comprehend and implement health and safety issues pertinent to this post.
  • Undertake any other duties commensurate with this post.
  • Present a positive image of the Canterbury District Volunteer Centre at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • 5 GCSEs A* C (including Maths and English) or equivalent

Desirable

  • A levels or degree

EXPERIENCE:


Essential

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in IT (Microsoft Office)
  • Demonstrable Administrative Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of the voluntary sector either as an employee, committee member or active volunteer

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with a wide range of audiences, in both written and oral formats and in particular with older people
  • Ability to work on own initiative and organise own workload to achieve deadlines
