They are looking to solve real-world problems by creating molecular diagnostic solutions for the point of need, for anyone, anywhere.


The Senior Mechanical Engineer will develop engineering solutions for research and commercial development across platforms and liaise with partners across the globe.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be involved in design, build and testing of prototypes, and providing in-field global support.

Products are moving from RND phase into Commercial Production and there is a pre-existing knowledgeable team to support you.


Responsibilities:


  • Work within a team of scientists and engineers developing portable molecular diagnostic devices and molecular diagnostics assays for a range of diseases.
  • Lead in the mechanical design of medical device products
  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with the development team, the wider research group, other laboratories and partners globally.
  • Design injection moulding parts & liaise with injection moulding manufacturers
  • Ideally Use 2D software (such as AutoCAD) and 3D modeler (such as Solidworks) to create conceptual designs and models (desirable so not a deal breaker)
  • Use 3D modeler to create final designs, assemblies and technical drawings
  • Design rigs to test prototypes, parts and assemblies for verification and validation purposes
  • Write specifications for component selection.
  • Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to source the right components
  • Design and implement costeffective equipment modifications to help improve safety and reliability
  • The Senior Mechanical Engineer will check and approve designs and drawings done by other engineers
  • Solve manufacturing and production problems and queries from the CMO
  • Support customer service team, especially regarding design or technical queries
  • Write and check testing plans as part of the verification and validation activities
  • Cowrite risk assessments for complex medical devices and associated equipment
  • Align work to Quality Systems and be cognisant of Regulations

Knowledge & Skills:


  • Relevant experience working in design engineering,
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar Qualifications/Practical Experience
  • Developing design history files to ISO standards e.g. ISO9001 or ISO1348
  • Track record in medical devices, IVDs or related industry
