UPP currently has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Officer to join our team.
The Facilities Officer will provide comprehensive support to the residence's management team, and assist with the provision of a suitably equipped and customer centred, secure environment for residents to live and to study in accordance with the license agreement.

£26,565.67 per annum

Security and Health and Safety
- Carry out regular patrols of the residence and grounds, reporting any security/safety issues
- Monitor and control health, safety and maintenance standards within residence and grounds, reporting health and safety issues and concerns to the residence management
- Control, monitor and supervise out of hours access to the residence, ensuring compliance with fire, health and safety procedures and any relevant residence instructions
- Respond effectively to fire alarm activations and when required, liaise with the emergency services
- Monitor the signing in and out of all guests, visitors and contractors
- Complete help desk forms for reactive maintenance and pass to the relevant persons
- Provide a comprehensive administrative support service to the residence team
- Provide an excellent and comprehensive reception service to the residence
- Deal with queries and complaints in an efficient, professional and courteous manner
- Complete all necessary reports including incident reports, noise reports, accident reports and others as required
- Monitor the conduct of students, encouraging reasonable and fair behaviour, reporting any breach of the Code of Conduct and license agreement to the duty warden/tutor and residence manager as appropriate
- Provide evidence and reports when requested
- React to incidents using initiative and log and report at the same time
- Liaise, as necessary, with other Facilities Officers, university clients, subcontractors, URSL staff and residents and conference delegates
- Liaise, if required, confidentially with student support services, chaplaincy and other agencies, in relation to student welfare and follow the company's policy for pastoral welfare
- Contact with residence managers and associated UPP staff
- Contact with specialist subcontractors and the UPP maintenance section
- Once appropriately trained, undertake any reactive maintenance (e.g. replacing lamps)
- Act as the first line maintenance response
- Carry out minor maintenance work, equipment checks and water checks as required
- First Aid appointed person responsibilities, if required
- Assist the residence team to prepare for new student arrivals
- Assist with open days, clearing days and other university events
- Provide cover at other halls of residence within UPP where necessary
- Work overtime, with reasonable notice, to cover for colleagues' absences and during student arrival/departure periods
- Perform other general duties as and when required
Skills, Experience, Education and Personal Qualities - Essential Criteria
- Previous security/receptionist experience
- Excellent telephone manner
- Strong customer orientated approach
- Strong organisational skills
- Good understanding of health and safety issues
- Good understanding of security issues
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Basic computer literacy
- Good written and verbal communication and customer care skills
- Proactive approach to problem solving
- Capable of working with minimum supervision
- Work as a team player and pass on knowledge to others
- Flexible and willing
- Possess a current valid driving licence
- Prepared to work extra hours as necessary
- Prepared to travel to other sites within the Company, if required
- Previous reception/security experience in a residential establishment
- Minor maintenance skills
- Good report writing skills
- SIA, GCE, CSE, or GCSE qualification in Mathematics and English Language
