Edward is a 19 year old autistic adult.

He has funding for 24 hour care with the additional possibility to double up several times a day for enrichment and educational activities.

He lives in a self contained flat in the family home with its own external entrance.

There are multiple aspects to this position.

First, it is a leadership role, a team of approximately 10 people need a positive, fun and goal focused atmosphere at work.

Edward needs an enriching schedule. High standards of care need to be maintained. This role will be instrumental in these things.

Secondly it is a hands on care role.

Thirdly it is being an advocate for Edward's further development. Edward continues to learn and grow his potential to have a fulfilling life. He is doing this at an encouraging rate. The person in this role should be naturally optimistic and help to hold the vision for Edward's future life.

This role would suit a responsible and experienced carer waiting to take the next step into leadership.

Leadership Role

• Lead a team of carers, PAs and educators
• Develop and maintain a friendly, fun and goal focused team atmosphere
• Maintain high standards of hygeine and organisation
• Learn new therapeutic methods
• Help train team members
• Develop a strong routine of therapeutic, fun and challenging activities

Hands on Caring Role

• Help Edward to develop self help skills with the goal of increasing his independence and autonomy (This will include food preparation, laundry, cleaning and self care)
• Learn to tune in to Edward's state of being and provide creative flexibility while maintaining a strong weekly schedule
• Have the ability to be gentle yet firm but also possess the ability to switch to a more commanding tone when necessary.

Salary:
£29,000.00-£38,000.00 per year


Schedule:

• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Night shift
• Weekend availability

Experience:

- providing care: 1 year (preferred)

- supervisory: 1 year (preferred)


Language:

Licence/Certification:

• Driving Licence (preferred)
• NVQ Level 2 Health & Social Care (preferred)
