Job description

To support qualified staff with daily routines in the nursery.
To learn the skills of a Nursery practitioner, (on the job) working practically as part of the team.
To complete and submit work to agreed timescales.
To show commitment to achieving the apprenticeship in the agreed timeframe.
To learn how to provide high quality childcare to our children.
Assist children with personal care, including changing nappies, assisting with toilet training and other associated welfare duties working alongside qualified practitoners.
To gain a strong understanding of child development and how this is important when caring for babies and young children.
Participate in the key worker system and be responsible for a group of children (no more than 5). Monitor, assess, record and report on their development.
Ensure your key children's files are kept up to date with planning for their individual needs, observations etc.
Follow Building the Ambition and Curriculum For Excellence for guidance in your practice with the children and planning.
Set up the environment to support the needs of your key children.
Ensure that the environment is well set out and that resources are excitingly presented and accessible.
Participate in free flow This aids children's development in selfassurance, independence, making choices and selfselecting.
Supervise meals and mealtimes ensuring they are a time of pleasant social To ensure all staff sit and interact with their key children where possible and to make this a sociable time.
