THE ROLE
DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reviewing specification requirements for new products with Concept, Engineering and Project Management.
- Reviewing and providing input for engineering change requests
- Liaising with the Category buying teams to understand prospective supply base against each requirement
- Completing relevant benchmarking, negotiation and nomination activity
- Working collaboratively with department heads for all requirements to ensure production, warranty and aftersales work can be achieved within project requirements and to customer expectations
- Identifying and prioritising issues, communicating to the NPD and management team.
- Establishing BoM cost target and working within those confines reporting and mitigating cost creep
- Ensuring suppliers nominated and product developed to impeccable quality standards
- Manage overall project timelines to ensure that product is delivered to market in accordance with business requirements and customer expectations
- Supporting Category buying teams with managing suppliers where required
- Supporting the implementation of new Procurement systems and processes around NPI
- Work on adhoc procurement projects as the company requires

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Desirable, experience of working in a purchasing role in an engineering and automotive environment
- Experience of delivering NPI projects from a manufacturing perspective from concept to launch, including demonstratable experience of Early Supplier Engagement
- Demonstratable experience of establishing cost (ownership) upfront during project development
- Microsoft Office suite proficient, specifically MS Excel
- Must have the Right To Work in the UK
