We are seeking an enthusiastic graduate to contribute to the development of online materials as part of the Innovation Hubs for Gene Therapies (IHfGT) Skills and Training provided by the Gene Therapy Innovation & Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC).

You will join Profs Janine Kirby and Guillaume Hautbergue to generate digital content for short courses on clinical trial design and regulatory approval of advanced cell and gene therapy medicinal products.

You will also be working with members of the GTIMC and Division of Neuroscience teams to develop an understanding of this innovative research area and the training requirements to be covered in these courses.

You will review training materials already available online and help develop complementary online and interactive learning courses that explain the principles and requirements of clinical trials of advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs) as well as the regulatory procedures and approval of manufacturing processes required for use of ATMPs.

You should have a BSc in a relevant discipline (or equivalent experience). Knowledge or experience of previous research or work experience within the ATMP field would be beneficial. Excellent IT skills are essential for this role.

The Gene Therapy Innovation and Manufacturing Centre (GTIMC) at the University of Sheffield is one of three centres, which form the Innovation Hubs for Gene Therapies (IHfGT), a UK initiative to advance the clinical development of new gene therapies.

As well as enabling academic researchers to progress novel gene therapy research into clinical trials through provision of GMP facilities, translational support and regulatory advice, the aim of the IHfGT Skills and Training Group is to increase the level and number of those skilled in developing and producing gene therapies.

Cell and gene therapies are one of the fastest growing industries within the life sciences and it is estimated that the number of jobs will need to grow by 117% to ensure that the UK remains a global leader in this transformative area of medicine.

A range of postgraduate qualifications, short courses and online modules are available via IHfGT (IHfGT Training Overview) to contribute to this skills gap.

The current post will contribute to the provision of online modules available via the IHfGT.

The objective is to contribute to the development of two new online courses which would be available to graduates, healthcare and industry professionals with an interest in ATMPs.
