About Wholesale Client Onboarding (WCOB) and Group Financial Crime Operations (GFCO)


The Wholesale Client Onboarding & GFCO Transaction Cycle provides a trusted and resilient transaction processing capability to the Barclays UK and Barclays International trading entities.

Wholesale Client Onboarding focuses on managing clients through the cycle of onboarding and KYC refresh across Corporate, Investment Banking and Markets.

Financial Crime Operations is a global operation covering financial crime monitoring activities across the Group, protecting the Bank against regulatory sanction and fines through best-in-class processes.

The area has a high level of risk associated with it due to the regulatory nature of the work and is a highly audited function to allow oversight and comfort to satisfy regulatory expectations.

The management team in this area carries a risk of personal liability attached to delegated CF11 responsibilities/nominated office for Barclays Bank PLC.

Overall purpose of role

  • An exciting new opportunity for an experienced Product Owner who will report to the Head of Product Management to join a new team leading the strategy, development, and delivery of the critical Wholesale Customer Onboarding Workflow Product in a newly established Agile transformation environment.
  • As Product Owner you will be responsible for the enterprise wholesale onboarding journey taking ownership of backlog prioritisation and management to achieve maximum business benefit with overarching responsibility for Product quality throughout E2E delivery
  • This role requires an experienced Product Owner with a strong history of execution to implement modern Agile methodologies and drive innovative solutions from conception through to delivery into the business.
  • You will work closely with the Accountable Executive and Business Architecture to create a product strategy and roadmap to deliver key strategic business outcomes aligned to the Product vision
  • You will be expected to use excellent knowledge of the market plus key internal/external data insights to inform Onboarding Product Strategy, roadmap and vision across the enterprise journey as we drive towards digitisation and automation
  • Working as part of a new department, you will be integral to shaping working practices from the outset as we strive to achieve "best in class" performance

Key Accountabilities

  • Creation of Wholesale Customer Onboarding workflow product vision and roadmap in partnership with strategy and Business Accountable Executives
  • Shaping, leading, and directing feature team(s) comprising of scrum lead, business analysts, engineering, business readiness and users to deliver key Product features in line with the Product vision and business priority
  • Oversight of all change related to the Product ensuring optimal product quality and maximising business benefit throughout Product design, development, test, and release lifecycle
  • Implementation of key Agile/SCRUM frameworks and methodologies
  • Ownership of the Product backlog including ongoing prioritisation and management.
  • Developing and maintaining a framework for backlog prioritisation in line with business priorities and key business outcomes
  • Defining/Documenting/Owning Business requirements/epics
