Description

Plant manager required to work for a large, secure manufacturing business that has multiple sites around the UK, and is investing heavily in new capital equipment.


This new position will initially involve overseeing the installation of a new piece of large industrial equipment, the development of processes around the equipment and then the ongoing management of the area.


This is a rare opportunity to join a business at the point when a new process is being introduced and take ownership of the area from day one.

The project represents significant capital expenditure for the group, and the successful manufacturing professionalwill play a key in the business moving forward.


Plant manager responsibilities will include:


  • Leading the installation of the new equipment, including the commissioning and related civil works.
  • Leading, directing, evaluating and developing a team of shift managers, operators and contractors.
  • Leading directing, and controlling the daytoday activities of the area
  • Responsibility for the health & safety of all employees, contractors and other personnel within the area
  • Responsibility for all activities within the site, such as maintenance, manufacturing, quality control and engineering
  • Establishing operating budgets, monitoring the cost and effectiveness of production activities to optimise resources, prioritise spending, etc.
  • Achieving volume, quality, and manufacturing standards
  • Developing and implementing a variety of operating policies and procedures
  • Allocating labour and capital resources to maximise productivity.
  • Analysing production and maintenance data to establish areas for improvement.
  • Researching, evaluating and recommending further investments in technology, capital, equipment, systems, or other assets that will enhance the plant's production capabilities
  • Extensive management experience gained in a heavy industrial environment
  • Good knowledge of health and safety
