These Institutions have been operating in the UK for decades andare part of a mission and mandate to increase knowledge and understanding of Muslim civilisations and help improve the quality of life for people around the world.

This building is designed to represent the values of openness, dialogue and respect for different viewpoints (pluralism).

The architecture incorporates a collection of gardens, courtyards and terraces that provides an insight into the diversity and influenceof Islamic landscape design around the world and through history.

The Centre is primarily designed for an academic community, with places for students, scholars and staff to share ideas and work together alongside flexible teaching spaces and quiet research areas.

We are now looking for a Facilities and Maintenance Operative to join our team at the Aga Khan Centre to support operations.

Your Rewards:

The Role

As a Facilities and Maintenance Operative, you will provide efficient and effective facilities and maintenance support to the Aga Khan Centre.

Specifically, you will focus on ensuring the security and general appearance of the building and surrounding areas are maintained to a high standard.

Observing safe working practices, you will follow instructions from a number of managers, consultants, contractors and manufacturers.

Your role will also involve:

• Managing the heating plant and equipment
• Cleaning and testing light fittings on a regular basis
• Ensuring all plumbing is working effectively and resolving any issues when it is not
• Disposing of waste in a safe, hygienic manner

Please note, this role will involve lifting and carrying objects.

About You
To be considered as a Facilities and Maintenance Operative, you will need:

• General trade skills including one or more of the following: plumbing, electrics, joinery and/or carpentry, painting and decorating
• Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act
• A basic level of IT literacy
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
• An accurate and flexible approach
