Full Time Housekeeper

The School
Founded in 1915, St Christopher School is an independent day and boarding school for girls and boys aged 3-18. We have 535 pupils and 199 teaching and support staff. We have no school uniform and everyone is called by their first name. We have no religious affiliation and welcome students and staff of all faiths and none.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Full Time Housekeeper reporting to the House Service Manager.

You will be working as part of a busy housekeeping team to ensure that our boarding house, classrooms, corridors, common areas, toilets, office and other areas are kept clean.


General Duties

  • To be responsible for all boarder's laundry (including bedding and clothing) on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Ensure all student social spaces are clean and tidy.
  • To empty waste paper bins, sweep floors, vacuum carpets and dust areas.
  • Ensure that floor areas are maintained to a high level including reporting anything which may cause problems under Health and Safety
  • To maintain daily all bathroom and toilet areas to a clean and hygienic standard.
  • Assist in all before and end of term deep cleans.
  • To liaise with other housekeepers to ensure all areas of cleaning are covered during the day.
  • Ensure that you are aware of all COSHH regulations relating to any product used and to comply with the Personal Protective equipment at work regulations 199
  • Report any defects or breaches of health and Safety to the House Service Manager immediately; follow up any items, removing any broken items and replacing when required if possible.
  • Assist in other areas within the department and School as properly directed by the House Service Manager from time to time.
  • To create a safe environment by ensuring that agreed codes of practice are adhered to and to comply in particular with fire regulations in closing all fire doors after cleaning corridors.

Person Specification

  • Hardworking, friendly and flexible to change.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Previous experience would be preferred

Hours of Work


Monday - Friday 07:00 - 14:30, 35 hours per week with a 30-minute unpaid break for lunch 52 weeks per annum.


Salary


The role is set on the support staff salary scale at point 16 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) based on 40 hours per week; £22,268.48, actual salary £19,484.92 per annum.
