NORTH WEST TEACHING HOSPITAL - STROKE CONSULTANT VACANCY


We have been appointed by a renowned Teaching Hospital in the North West to help recruit a Stroke Consultant for either a Substantive or a 12 month NHS Fixed Term contract.

The appointee will patriciate in the regional Telestroke thrombolysis rota. There will be opportunity to be involved in the unselected acute medical take, currently 1:8 rota.

However when Consultant numbers are sufficient, the plan is to move to a seven day working covering Stroke on weekend TIA clinics.

Our client has approximately 550 acute stroke patients admitted annually.

The Combined Stroke Unit has 39 beds (15 acute and 24 rehabilitation) situated in a newly developed unit in close proximity to Radiology.

The Stroke Unit is currently staffed by 3 WTE Consultants, supported by 1 Specialty Doctor (this will be increased to 2 shortly) and 4 Junior Doctors.

There is a team of specialist stroke nurses and multi-disciplinary team support from physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and dieticians.


Our client also has a Early Support discharge Team which is led by Occupational Therapy and provides on-going community rehabilitation for Stroke survivors.

Either experienced Consultants wishing to take up a new challenge or, Specialist trainees finishing their training looking for their first Consultant level appointment, are encouraged to apply.

GMC Registration is essential however Specialist Registration is not. Successful non EEA/EU appointees will be offered Certificates of Sponsorship in order to obtain visa's.
