The vacancy

_Moore Barlow is currently offering a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Property Lawyer (Solicitor or Legal Executive) to join our leading Real Estate Division as a Partner or Senior Associate._

_ This is a newly created opportunity bridges the gap between our Commercial Property Team and Financial Services Litigation Team._

The Team
We are one of the UK's most experienced financial services legal teams, working in partnership with our clients. This includes a specialist, well-established and experienced Financial Services practice. We have in excess of 470 employees, including 70 partners, based in Guildford, London, Lymington, Richmond, Southampton and Woking. Where we differ from other firms is the personal delivery of our services.

We work very closely with each client to ensure that we understand both their business and cultural drivers so that the service we provide is bespoke and both technically and culturally aligned.

Our Financial Services Litigation team has a fantastic offering led by Sarah Watley.

They act for a wide range of lender clients, including commercial, residential, second charge, bridging, short-term, development and other bespoke asset-based lenders.

They have been doing this for twenty years and have built a highly regarded reputation in the industry with their mix of fixed fee and bespoke service offering.


Our repossession sales team works closely with our Financial Services Litigation Team to provide a market-leading conveyancing service around the sale of repossessed properties on behalf of the firm's lender clients and receivers.


What are we looking for, and why should you apply?
We are looking for someone to head up our Financial Services offering from a Real Estate perspective.

We need an individual to build out our repossession sales offering and to work alongside the Property Team and Lender Services Team to grow the work and client base.

We appreciate it's a niche area of expertise but given our success and existing clients we know it's a fantastic opportunity for growth for us and for the right individual.

We are realistic and whilst it would be great to find someone who already has experience in repossession sales, we recognise this role could also suit someone who is an experienced conveyancer who is used to dealing with lender clients in another capacity and is passionate about it.

Maybe you are someone who has worked for lender clients originating new mortgages.


Whilst likely to be based in Southampton or Guildford, we are offering flexible working in terms of home and office, but we'd need you to be able to travel to our other offices to be with the team/meet clients when required.


What will you be doing?


Working as a self-sufficient fee earner who can work well on your own as well as with others to provide expert and commercial legal advice to clients.

As a key professional practitioner and leader in your field in terms of legal expertise, management capability and commercial acumen, you will be able:

  • To demonstrate adherence, to and assist with the crafting and development of firm policy and strategy
  • To lead and support team members in their roles, their caseload, their career, through leadership, delegation, mentoring and working with our Career development framework
  • To proactively manage allocated key clients and referrers
  • Being proactive in improving the team's processes and workflows
  • Managing a personal case load, working on matters from start to finish with mínimal supervision
  • Being flexible and prepared to support colleagues in other office locations where required
  • Assisting with marketing and business development for the department and firm including attending networking events on a regular basis
  • Cross referring clients to other departments whenever possible
  • Acting as an ambassador for the firm recommending people to join us, encouraging contacts to become new clients
  • Helping to win new clients and create new professional relationships
  • Excellent client skills so that your clients feel advice is relevant and commercial
  • Meeting personal and team fee income targets.
