Job overview

Main duties of the job

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of supporting Linux based servers and IT infrastructure within an enterprise setting. This will include provisioning, testing, management, support, and maintenance of systems throughout the whole of its life cycle. This will include ensuring that systems exceed our minimum availability targets
  • Experience of resolving Service Desk calls and underlying problem diagnosis within agreed SLAs or OLAs.
  • The ability to complete assigned technical tasks to a high standard within given deadlines.
  • Knowledge and experience in administering security solutions to prevent cyber security incidents.
  • Strong communication and document writing skills

This post is based at the Nottingham City Hospital campus however, you will be expected to travel to other sites within the trust when required.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Minimum of 3 years IT enterprise infrastructure experience.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory or expert capacity in an IT infrastructure role
  • Experience in network and infrastructure monitoring and acting on information they present.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience of working in a service that operate SLA/OLAs.
  • Understands information technology in the public sector organisation supporting complex IT enterprise infrastructure.
  • Experience of managing complex technical projects to time and on budget
  • Proven risk management skills to reduce negative impact to the business.
  • Knowledge of principles governing confidentiality and security of personal data
Desirable criteria

  • Has experience of supporting IT in a large IT enterprise environment.
  • Knowledge of Icinga systems monitoring solution.
  • Practical knowledge ISO auditing and standards
  • Has proven experience in delivering £50,000+ technical infrastructure projects.
Training & Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent technical qualification & experience.
  • Holds technical qualifications on relevant technologies (VMware, Microsoft Servers, UNIX/Linux, networking).
Desirable criteria

  • Undertaken SAN infrastructure qualifications in an industry recognised technology
