Description

This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career leading a popular, varied and well-established practical conservation programme working in and along the River Aire.

If you are looking for a role that enables you to make a real difference for people, places and nature and have developed a mix of practical environmental and volunteer leadership skills this could be the ideal role for you.

The Aire Rivers Trust are a Bradford-based environmental charity that works to connect people, places, and nature. Our work is broad but focuses on improving the River Aire and its tributaries within the Aire valley.

With the support of our volunteers, we do a considerable amount of work with landowners, riverside businesses and local authorities to improve our rivers as spaces for wildlife and people.

The work of our volunteers improves footpaths, creates new habitat along the riverside and for fish, reduces flood risk and cares for green spaces for local communities.

Your role will include leading and developing volunteers.

We want our volunteers to have an enjoyable experience that they feel makes a difference to where they live and to their own health and wellbeing.

You will be joining a popular and well-established programme, working as part of an experienced team with opportunities for training and development.

Our volunteer programme covers the whole of the upper and middle Aire from Leeds to Malham but with a particular focus on the communities of Keighley and Bradford.

You will be expected to work across the catchment and to deliver weekend and evening sessions to engage new volunteers.

The Aire Rivers Trust believes that a river that is valued and enjoyed will be one that the community cares for.

You will support community outreach through delivering walks, talks and at community and agricultural shows.

The Aire Rivers Trust supports flexible working patterns and working from home is permitted as appropriate, in agreement with your Line Manager.

This role will involve regular weekend and occasional evening working to run one off events, attend meetings and establish a new monthly weekend volunteer day.
