Description

Student Counsellor - Sixth Form

Part-time (16 hours per week days to suit) - Term time only

Salary:
hourly rate to be agreed and invoiced approx. £40,000FTE

Start date:
January 2023

We are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced counsellor to join our dynamic Sixth Form team and work alongside our Wellbeing Mentor to support our most vulnerable students at our Sixth Form at Bohunt School Liphook, part of the Bohunt Education Trust.

This is an exciting new role that would suit a counsellor who, in addition to providing counselling sessions, is able to help us develop this new service from scratch.

This will initially include defining the scope of the service we will offer students as well as putting in place service protocols, counselling contracts, assessment (eg CORE-10/YP-CORE), referral and triage processes, and an appointment system.

The service will work to the BACP framework while being integrated as part of our pastoral support.

An important part of the role will be establishing clearly defined ways of working with the sixth form pastoral and safeguarding team, and contact with student families, and working with the wider sixth form team to communicate the service to students, staff and families.

Bohunt Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and requires all staff and volunteers to share and demonstrate this commitment.

You will bring us:

  • Experience in young peoplebased counselling, ideally within an education setting;
  • Empathy, creativity and expertise combined with excellent interpersonal skills;
  • A secure understanding of school safeguarding and multiagency referrals for young people.

In return, we will offer you:

  • Flexibility to deliver 16 hours of counselling a week, eg over 2 days, or spread over more days;
  • A private room from which to deliver counselling sessions;
  • Funded supervision up to 2 hours a month;
  • The chance to further develop the service during the first year so more students can benefit (potentially forming links with counselling colleges to offer placements to L4 final year students)
  • An enthusiastic and supportive team of staff, committed to raising our high standards further;
  • The opportunity to make a difference.

Bohunt School in Liphook was judged to be Outstanding in all areas in April 2013 and the school has received national coverage for a variety of innovative initiatives.

Last summer's A level results placed us top of non-fee-paying sixth forms providers in the region.

Bohunt School opened a new Sixth Form in purpose built accommodation in 2017, offering a variety of A Level courses to students.

The School is located in attractive, open country on the edge of Liphook (40 miles from London) with easy access to the A3 between Guildford and Portsmouth.
