To ensure that all patient notes are kept up to date and filing is filed in the notes in line with the George Eliot Hospital Medical Records Policy.

To provide an efficient and professional clerical service to the Nursing, Medical and Surgical Teams
To communicate with internal and external professional bodies, e.g. other NHS Trust's, Coroner, Police, District Nurses and other Allied Healthcare Professionals.
To communicate over the telephone and personally with patients, patients
representatives and relatives relaying accurate and applicable information as required

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • To ensure that all patients notes are kept up to date and filing is filed in the notes in line with the George Eliot Medical Records Policy
  • To provide an efficient and professional clerical service to the nursing and medical teams.
  • To communicate with internal and external professional bodies e.g. other NHS trusts, Coroner, police, District nurses and other allied health care professionals.
  • To communicate over the telephone and personally with patients, patients representatives and relatives relaying accurate and applicable information as required.
  • Ensuringany queries that arise are dealt with or referred to the relevant Nursing personnel.
  • Ensuring the Patient Administration System (Lorenzo) and patient notes are kept uptodate and reflect patients currently on the unit.
  • Answering enquiries, maintaining filing systems, ordering stationery and stock,and distributing post
  • Ensuring that all Trust performance standards for turnaround times are maintained and adhered to.
  • The post holder with deal with the administrative and clerical requirements on the designated ward.
