The catering department at Blackpool Victoria Hospital is looking for three applicants to join the busy catering team as bank staff.

The posts are zero contracted posts and are to assist in the cover of annual leave and sickness/absences across the department in all sections.

You will be working on an ad hock basis this could include weekends and Bank Holidays on shift patterns rangeing from 6.30am to 8.00pm.

Experience in large catering establishments would be an advantage, however training will be provided.

The main duties of the post covers:
All food services in the restaurant and patient meals services,

All cleaning duties associated with equipment and work area.

Use of industrial dishwashers/pot washers.

Delivery and collection of meal trolleys.

The working environment of the main kitchen meals service area, serving over 3000 meals daily, may often be hot, noisy and very busy due to the requirement to meet speed and timeliness of meals service 3 times daily, every day of the year.

The duties of a catering assistant involves long periods standing / walking in catering department & hospital areas.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

Moving & handling of catering equipment and Meal Trolleys e.g. transfer of food items, using trolleys and other food service equipment within the hospital.
Delivery of patient meal trolleys from main kitchen to wards and departments and return of same as directed by the Patient Services Supervisor.
Utilisation of electric tug for delivery/return of meal trolleys where appropriate
Serving meals for patients or staff and other customers as required, giving due attention to Compliance with the Catering Department Services and Hygiene & Quality Standards. Attractive presentation of all food items served. Correct and consistent portion control.

Meeting required tempo of work & service deadlines.
