The Estates Operations section sits within the University's Estates Division and is responsible for the maintenance and operation of the University's Operational and Non-Operation Estate.

We have a new opportunity for a Buildings Management Systems ControlManager to join the Asset Management Team.


The primary focus of the Building Controls Manager is to act as a source of expertise in the operation, maintenance and fault finding of numerous complex Building Management System and provide support for their team in their area of expertise.

The BuildingControls Manager also provides technical support to the electrical and mechanical teams, building surveying team and minor works / capital projects team on all BMS matters.


The role-holder will work within the Maintenance Team under day to day direction of an external maintenance provider under a Retention of Employment (RoE) model, to ensure that Mechanical building services are monitored and maintained to a high standard,comply with regulations, are safe and that emergencies are dealt with promptly.

The role involves daily supervision and work allocation of in-house and external resources.

The number will vary, but usually involves direct supervision of 3 staff comprisingof 2 x BMS Supervisors and 1 x BMS Technician.

In addition, the BMS Controls Manager will be required to supervise specialist contractors and suppliers employed to complete modifications, inspections, equipment tests and repairs.

They will be required to specifyand recommend the procurement of labour, service and equipment, software and replacement parts via the Stores.
