We are currently recruiting for an exciting food manufacturing organisation in Northampton.

Our client is looking for an exceptional buyer to join their procurement team to manage the sourcing and procurement of goods.

This is an ideal opportunity for someonewith 1-5 years of experience in food manufacturing procurement, who is looking to quickly progress their career in a growing organisation.


Reporting into the supply chain manager and sitting alongside a team of highly accomplished buyers, the buyer will be responsible for the end-to-end sourcing of a portfolio of commodities required for the manufacture of the organisation's products.

Thiscould include both back end, day-to-day sourcing using the existing database on their MRP system, as well as sourcing new products and new suppliers, all the way through to delivery of product.

They will be part of a fast-paced and rewarding environment andbe given plenty of autonomy and scope for decision-making.

Responsibilities of the Buyer

  • General Purchasing administrative and nonadministrative duties
  • Placing purchase orders securing the required lead times, driving quality adherence and pursuing best cost for direct materials and subcontract services in line with the business demand (MRP requirements)
  • Issuing requests for quotation (RFQ's/RFI's/RFP's) with focus on creating competitive tension between potential supplier providing the platform to make informed and sustainable sourcing decisions to support business requirements
  • Identify risks in the supply chain with focus to resolve using supplier development activities or resource activities to support business requirements
  • Ensure On Time Delivery of all items
Key Requirements
years experience in a related industry as part of a procurement function

  • Excellent communicator and fast learner
