Our market leading Insurance client is strengthening its Underwriting team with an experienced Account Underwriter.

You will price large risk portfolios and confidently negotiate those terms. Also work closely with the Capacity Providers to vary terms and develop new Schemes.


Your Underwriting experience can be of any class although those used to more complex risks will adjust more easily to underwriting these portfolios.


You will also have the ability to recognise and analyse trends in order to fully manage and price these large portfolios.


This is a role where hybrid working is encouraged so you will be able to split your time between home and the office.


As Senior Underwriter your main responsibilities will include:

  • Development of pricing proposals for new Scheme opportunities
  • Assisting the wider Group in the production and refresh of pricing models as required
  • Identifying improvements in current pricing process and implementing those changes
  • Review the performance of existing Scheme business
  • Recommend renewal terms and support the Commercial team with renewal presentations
  • Attendance at meetings to discuss and evaluate large renewal proposals
  • Referrals to Capacity Providers where they fall outside the terms of the Binder Authority
  • Negotiate with Underwriters to agree and vary terms of Binding Authorities
  • Attendance at regular conference calls with Underwriters and Capacity Providers and quarterly underwriting review meetings
  • Assisting with external underwriting audits

To be a successful Senior Underwriter you will demonstrate:

  • Strong Underwriting experience with good levels of authority to write new business
  • Excellent excel and analytical skills
  • Confident decisionmaking ability
  • First class verbal and written communication
  • Excellent organisational and time keeping skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively externally and internally
