Description

The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of a high standard of cost-effective nursing care, as part of a nursing team, in support of and under the guidance and delegation of the Team leader or designated representative.

Ensure that patients receive safe, individualised and effective standards of care by following care plans and treatment interventions as delegated by the registered nurse.

Under delegation of the team leader, work competently and without direct supervision, within a framework that has been agreed by the Senior Sister/Team Leader.

The post-holder will also work independently being responsible for assisting the department in general administration and secretarial duties, ensuring a professional and confidential service at all times.

Following appropriate training and assessment, undertake specific clinical interventions as delegated by the registered nurse.
Ensure cleansing, sterilising, decontamination and storage of equipment is undertaken according to Health Board policies.
Following training and assessment, as part of a plan of care undertake delegated clinical interventions to include:
Venepuncture
STI tests on asymptomatic patients
Pregnancy tests
Urinalysis
Physiological observations
Health promotion advice and support
Teaching correct condom use
Make accurate observations of the physical, psychological, social, and environmental situations, and communicating these observations with the registered nurse.


The post-holder within their administrative role, will also provide a range of administrative and secretarial duties including filing of clinical and non-clinical correspondence.

The post-holder will welcome patients to the department, guiding them to the appropriate room and answering general questions.
Duties will also include typing, scanning, photocopying and ordering office supplies.

The post-holder will adhere to the Health Board Guidelines and undertake any other duties as appropriate to the nature and grade of the post.

Prioritise daily work to comply with needs of team.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.


Hywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties.

  • Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
