This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of the team that runs the Sussex Community NHS Charity.

The Charity Assistant will provide support to the Charity team and will take a lead on social media planning as well as a focus on data processing and the recording and acknowledgement of all donations and support for the Charity.


Reporting to the Charity Manager, you will be the first point of contact for all queries made to the charity.

You will be dealing with members of the public, fundraisers, community organisations and SCFT staff.


You will be expected to undertake a range of general administrative duties including answering queries, collecting and processing donations and recording all donor and fundraiser details on our database as required.


A high level of attention to detail is a key for this role as well as excellent customer service and IT skills.

Sussex Community NHS Charity is the official NHS charity for Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

We raise money to fund projects which support the Trust to deliver excellent care at the heart of the community.

  • We support staff and volunteers to develop their skills and help the Trust to shape rewarding careers.
Charity Administration

  • To administer income ensuring all donations are recorded and banked as appropriate, and delivering donor acknowledgements in a timely manner, all in line with current procedures.
  • To administer the Charity's fundraising database, Donorfy, ensuring it is up to date at all times. Including maintaining a record of our processes to ensure a consistent and accurate use of the system.
  • To administer the onboarding of supporters onto challenge events and other fundraising initiatives.
  • To obtain sufficient media consent from supporters and Trust staff when required, reviewing records periodically in line with legislation and Trust procedure.
  • To provide data reports when asked.
  • To minute the Fundraising Operational Group meetings.
  • To maintain fundraising expenditure records.
  • To manage Trust Charity Amazon Wish Lists, liaising with list holders.
  • To record gifts in kind as per current procedures and organising distribution.
  • To oversee and keep records of charity inventory, following Trust procurement processes to order materials when requested.
  • To ensure all charity subscriptions are maintained, and invoices paid on time to retain essential access to systems, software and subscriptions.
  • To handle incoming and outgoing post.
Marketing & Communications

  • Following and implementing agreed marketing and communications plans.
  • Producing and scheduling regular social media content for Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn as per a monthly agreed plan.
  • Maintaining and updating the charity website and intranet areas.
  • Working with the communications team to produce news items, press releases, content for internal outlets and designing print and digital assets.
  • Distributing marketing materials such as posters across the Trust and community.
  • To produce and deliver the monthly charity enewsletter, along with ad hoc marketing communications to our database.
  • To assist with the delivery of presentations to internal and external audiences both in person and virtually.
  • To assist with photograph opportunities, such as at cheque presentations and events, by using charity equipment to take quality photographs.
Community & Event Fundraising

  • To assist with the design and delivery of our fundraising, community and internal events, including attending events which may occasionally take place during evenings and weekends.
  • To deliver and collect fundraising equipment to locations across Sussex when required.
  • To assist with the building of relationships with a range of community based groups, organisations and corporates to encourage greater support of the charity.
  • To assist with the building of relationships with Trust staff to encourage their fundraising support and raising the profile of the charity internally.
  • To liaise with the Trusts volunteer service to advertise for and recruit volunteers when required to support events or occasional office tasks.
  • To be the point of contact for our volunteers at events.
  • To be a point of contact and support for all fundraisers.
