Your responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Data Governance Lead to join us on a 12 month FTC.

Reporting to the Business Excellence Director, this role is responsible for establishing and maintaining effective data governance practices across the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.

This role demands a strong blend of technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and effective communication skills.

The Data Governance Lead must demonstrate leadership capabilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive approach to addressing data governance challenges within the organisation.


Key duties:


Document Management:


  • Develop and implement document management policies and procedures
  • Working with our 2 main document management systems, establish processes for document storage, ensuring accessibility, security and destruction
  • Oversee the organisation, categorisation, and tagging of all business documents for easy retrieval

Retention Policies:


  • Identify document owners and work with them to establish retention policies and create and enforce document retention policies in compliance with legal, contractual and regulatory requirements

Data Recovery:


  • Design and implement data backup and recovery strategies to ensure business continuity and conduct regular testing to verify effectiveness
  • Compliance Management:
  • Work towards achieving ISO 27001 certification by aligning data management practices with ISO standards
  • Conduct internal audits to identify gaps in compliance and implement corrective actions

Incident Response:


  • Further develop and implement procedures for handling data breaches and other security incidents
  • Coordinate incident response efforts, including communication with stakeholders and regulatory authorities

Your profile

Essential experience, skills and knowledge:


  • Significant experience in leading document management strategies
  • Experience with ISO 27001 implementation
  • Ability to analyse complex data management issues and develop effective solutions
  • Meticulous in ensuring accuracy and completeness of document management processes and compliance requirements
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively in crossfunctional teams and communicate effectively to non technical stakeholders
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving data management challenges

Technical Skills:


  • Proficiency in document management systems (e.g. SharePoint, Docuware and IXOS)
  • Strong understanding of data backup and recovery technologies
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR)
