Applications are invited for the role of ENT/Plastic receptionist.

To meet and greet patients attending appointments within ENT and Plastics Outpatients. To ensure reception runs smoothly and the patient journey is supported throughout their time within the department.


Receptionists ensure:


  • Greet all visitors in a pleasant and efficient manner.
2. patients information is up to date and accurate on Trust wide information systems.

  • Provide wristbands when appropriate
  • Oversee completion of questionnaires
  • To check in and check out patients and book follow up appointments when necessary

Responsibilities:


  • Greet all visitors to Reception in a helpful, polite and efficient manner.
  • Register attendance for appointment using EPR, ensuring the patient's demographic details are correct.
  • Updating demographics appropriately whilst adhering to the Trust policies for data protection and patient confidentiality.
  • Schedule appointments accurately ensuring that the correct RTT status is recorded in accordance with the Trust's 18 week guidelines.
  • Liaise closely with the nursing staff to support the smooth running of the reception service
  • Deal with all enquiries in a sympathetic and professional manner (you may need to deal with anxious patients where tact and diplomacy is required).
  • Have a good knowledge of the whereabouts of other departments in order to be able to direct patients that are lost.
  • Ensure that all reception clinic lists are available, up to date and accurate, recording and reporting all DNA's appropriately.
  • Arrange return transport for patients attending appointments when requested to do so.
  • Ensure that every patient is attended, recorded, summarised and clinics are closed as per Trust policy on the EPR system and within the required deadlines.
  • Take pride and responsibility for the Reception area, ensuring it is always clean and tidy.
  • Be able to communicate effectively using good verbal and written skills.
  • Undertake any further training requirements in order to keep up to date with software updates and to enhance your receptionist skills.
  • Be able to prioritise workload on a daily basis and work independently with a limited amount of supervision.
  • Participate as required in the training of new team members.
  • Assist with the provision of cover for absent colleagues as requested, this could be at short notice and therefore requires a flexible approach to work.
  • Comply with the requirements of the Data Protection Act, Access to Health Records Act and legislation issued in relation to confidential data.
