Description

What's the fastest game bird in Europe? This was the question that inspired the founding of Guinness World Records back in 1955.

Starting with a single book published from a room above a gym, GWR has grown to become a global multimedia brand, with offices in London, New York, Beijing, Tokyo and Dubai.

Today, we deliver world-class content, not just through books, but via TV shows, social media and live events. Whatever the medium, our ultimate purpose is to make the world a more interesting, fun and positive place.

Job Summary/Overview:

The purpose of this role is to support the Brand and Digital team in responding to design briefs covering all business areas (except the GWR annual book).

This means the role involves design for both b2b and consumer audiences.

The role is fast-paced and varied, responding to both print and digital briefs from five of our six offices - London (HQ), Dubai, US, China and MENA.

You will report into the Director of Brand Strategy and work closely with the Brand & Digital team.

The Design team comprises a permanent Designer also based in London (Global HQ), and is also supported by a Designer in the Japan office, who is responsible for design briefs for that region.

You will also work alongside freelancers and agency contacts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As Designer you will respond to daytoday design requests across all GWR business areas using an inhouse ticketing system
  • Accountable for producing high quality design outputs for both print and digital for global and regional teams
  • Work in partnership with the Brand team, acting as a Brand Guardian and policing correct use of the GWR brand across all areas of the business
  • Support the Design team in making sure that GWR's creative potential is reached across websites, social media, and physical entertainment spaces, by designing visuals and spaces that stand out and are vibrant and fun
  • Responsible for supporting the roll out of the updated GWR visual identity and continuing to support the transition of updating previous designed templates and assets in partnership with existing agency contacts
  • You will work closely as a team with the Designer in the London office and the Designer based in the Japan office to build consistency across the global GWR brand and provide additional creative support where needed
  • Support the Design team in increasing visibility, transparency and awareness of the global design function by contributing to monthly reports to the wider business.
  • Draw inspiration from outside bestinclass examples of relevant global brand design and continue to develop design skills to stay ahead of the trends, with learning and development
  • Communicate regularly with internal design clients and colleagues to build successful working relationships and provide additional facetoface creative support and planning

Job Requirements and Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree, ideally in Art, Design, Photography or a related area

Training, License, Certification Requirements:

  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • 3D skills desirable (i.e. Cinema4D, Blender or equivalent)
  • Experienced in Microsoft 365, particularly PowerPoint
  • PC skills advantageous (the role will be using a PC and not a Mac)

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail in both design and copy
  • Creativethinker, excited about design and passionate about keeping an eye on upcoming design trends
  • Experienced in working with brand guidelines, but with a willingness to creatively push the parameters where justified
  • Experience/interest in wider brand, marketing and digital disciplines, in order to make design decisions that reflect the needs of the internal stakeholders
  • Ability to adapt between b2b and consumer facing assets/outputs
  • Excellent communication skills, comfortable in meetings both inperson and online
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and projects simultaneously, good under pressure
  • Proficient at designing for digital, events and print
  • A good team player works well within a team and is keen to get involved in the GWR culture where possible.
