Contract:
Permanent


Working Hours:
maximum 35 per week, Monday - Friday. _Please note this position is term time + 1 week position (39 weeks per year)_


Pay:
£13.93 per hour (£26,873 pro rata per annum)


Required to start:
Friday 1st September 2023


St Michael's Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a highly skilled Safeguarding Officer to work with our Headteacher on all aspects of safeguarding at our large and friendly primary school.

St Michael's is located in the village of Larkhill, Wiltshire.

The role will include:

  • Working with our staff on all aspects of safeguarding, including working to maintain high aspirations for all pupils who are currently experiencing, or have previously experiences welfare, safeguarding and child protection issues
  • Working with families and external agencies
  • Working with safeguarding software systems (MyConcern) to ensure every case is tracked and monitored
  • Work with and monitor the use of the safeguarding software system My Concern
  • Chairing parental meetings and holding Team Around the Child (TAC) and Team Around the Family (RAF) meetings
  • Making referrals to the multiagency safeguarding hub for cases which reach the safeguarding threshold
  • Opening and monitoring Early Support Assessments (ESA)
  • Triaging of any safeguarding concerns raised by members of staff
  • Attending initial Child Protection Case meetings, Core Group meetings and Acorn DSL Network Meetings
  • Supporting safeguarding training for school staff (and leading sessions where required)
  • Day to day administration (including meeting document preparation, running reports from MyConcern updating policies and check in meetings)
We would love to hear from you if you can show us you:

  • Have at least a C grade in English and Maths at GCSE level
  • Have experience of working in a safeguarding children's environment or with children's social services and/ or multi agencies
  • Have a willingness to be trained as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)
  • Are comfortable using tracking and monitoring software
  • Have a working knowledge of safeguarding software systems/ ability to learn
  • Are robust and resilient yet empathetic and willing to learn
  • Can work discreetly and professionally as part of a team within a large school workforce
  • Are highly organised, selfmotivated and are able to work in a fastmoving environment
