We have a fantastic opportunity for a Receptionist to join
our team here
at Werrington Vets**This is a full time position, working Monday-Friday with 1:5 Saturday mornings - rota is below;

  • Saturday (1:5) 08:30 12:30


As a Receptionist your primary role is to be the first point of contact for our clients and offer a warm friendly welcome.

You will answer client enquiries and direct them where appropriate. This will include, arranging appointments and surgeries, requesting medications, keeping accurate records, and registering new clients. You will liaise between a multidisciplinary team to relay veterinary information to clients to help keep them informed.


You will need to have the ability to remain calm under pressure and also show empathy towards everything that is thrown at you, from sharing the excitement of a puppy's first visit to the vets or comforting a client who has received some bad news.


Main Responsibilities

  • Follow opening and closing procedures and ensure reception is well presented at all times
  • Have a warm, friendly manner and deliver excellent customer service
  • Handle cash
  • Be familiar with our protocols (e.g. neutering, vaccination, flea/worm treatments and preoperative procedures), website and social media, and be able to use these tools to assist clients and answer queries
  • Liaise with the vets and nurses and assist where needed
  • Answer calls quickly and efficiently, be able to assess the situation and prioritise emergencies
  • Ensure the smooth running of the vet's diary and manage clients' expectations.
  • Promote, advise, and set up the pet health plan
  • Ordering stock and arranging returns. Checking in stock and ensuring stock rotation.
  • General administration such as scanning, preparing medical paperwork and filing
  • Helping the vets when needed

Knowledge and skills required

  • Experience in a client care environment and in working as part of a team to provide exceptional service
  • Ability to display a friendly, positive, professional, and empathetic attitude towards clients and their pets. Handle challenging situations and be able to put the client at ease
  • Sound knowledge of veterinary terms, veterinary drugs, treatments and operations (following training)
The salary for this position will be in line with National Minimum Wage +3% cost of living increase.
