A rare and exciting opportunity has become available for an Apprentice Estimator to join our Nuclear and Infrastructure Division based at our site in Carnaby.
As an Apprentice Estimator you will be working with the estimating department to prepare competitive tenders and estimates for various building projects, in doing this you will learn about different factors like quality assurance, materials, transportation, fabrication and labour costs to name just a few.
You will be a working within a key department that is responsible for the winning of new business, working closely with other departments including design, construction, sales, and contracts to provide the client with the most cost-effective tender information.
A great opportunity to learn on the job the principles and core skills needed to become a qualified Estimator.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- To be responsible for own time management.
- To ensure college days are attended.
- To be responsible for undertaking instructions from Estimating Manager and designated mentors
- To be responsible for own learning.
- To be responsible for asking questions so they better understand the role and industry.
Key Skills that you will learn will include:
- Liaising with the internal departments and assisting with the management of estimating programme demands
- The assisting with client relations and tender enquires.
- Extracting quantities from and working with 2D plan drawings and 3D models from various software packages
This is a position where you are growing and maintaining relationships both internally within the company and externally in the wider construction market.

- The ability to work as part of a team.
- The ability to organise their own workload.
- To understand the importance of health and safety.
- The ability to listen and follow instructions.
- To have an enquiring mind and a genuine desire to work in the preconstruction department.
- Experienced in Microsoft office packages.
- IT Literate
