As Head of Centre, you'll be the trailblazer, charting the course for our centre's success. Picture yourself at the helm, guiding the planning, development, and operational performance of our dynamic programs. Your leadership will be the driving force behind our mission to deliver unparalleled outdoor experiences.

Reporting directly to the Partnership Manager, you'll be the architect of our connections with Manchester's schools, community, and elite sporting facilities.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Dive into the action by designing and executing electrifying outdoor education programs tailored to ignite the imaginations of Manchester's schools.
  • Feel the pulse of our programs as you monitor and evaluate their impact, ensuring they not only meet curriculum requirements but also exceed expectations.
  • Forge powerful alliances with key stakeholders, setting the stage for groundbreaking collaborations that elevate our offerings.
  • Champion sustainability as you infuse our programs with ecoconscious practices that honor and protect our planet.
  • Inspire a team of passionate individuals to deliver nothing short of excellence, fostering a culture of growth and safety.
  • Lead the charge in shaping our strategic direction, crafting plans that propel us toward our goals while aligning with GLL's overarching vision.
  • Keep the gears turning smoothly by ensuring our operations meet regulatory requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

Strap in for the ride with a minimum of three years' experience in the outdoor sector.

& at least one of the following:

  • RYA Senior Instructor Dinghy
  • RYA Senior Instructor Windsurf
  • RYA Powerboat Instructor
  • British Canoeing Coach Award (L3 Kayak/Canoe) In addition (If not superseded above)
  • Paddle sport coaching award, BCU L2, UKCC Level 2 UKCC Open water endorsement or equivalent
  • RYA Dinghy Instructor
  • RYA Start Windsurfing Instructor
  • RYA Safety boat certificate
  • UK Driving license Desirable
  • Rock Climbing Instructor/SPA
  • Mountain Leader Award (Summer)
  • Stand Up Paddleboard Leader


  • BOF-Teaching Orienteering Part

  • Current 16 hour first aid certificate Knowledge
