The post holder will form part of the multi-disciplinary team that diagnose and treat Prostate Cancer.

The post holder will be trained in robot-assisted prostatectomy and will also have the opportunity to develop skills in robotic renal cancer surgery.

The post holder will be part of the team delivering care to patients in theatre, outpatients and on the wards.


Working as part of a team at the forefront of surgical innovation, the post-holder will also have access to training opportunities.

Involvement in research project(s) that might be used to build work towards an MD/PhD would be encouraged and supported through the Imperial Clinical Academic Urology programme with support from Professor Ahmed, core research staff in the trials units and translational researchers in the west London region.

The post holder will form part of the urology team focused on the diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer using robotic surgery.

During their time in the urology department, the post holder can expect to improve their clinical and surgical skills in prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment.

The post holder will be trained in robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy.


The post holder will attend the specialist MDT for prostate cancer and will be part of the post-MDT outpatient clinics.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to develop skills in robotic renal cancer surgery.


The post holder will be expected to take an active role in managing patient pathways, this will include undertaking regular clinics and diagnostic lists.


The post holder will have the opportunity to complete at least one research project and write a minimum of one peer reviewed publication.

This would be supported through the Imperial Clinical Academic Urology programme with support from Professor Hashim Ahmed, Mr Mathias Winkler, core research staff in the trials units, and translational researchers in the west London region.

The post holder will help to train junior specialist trainees and to actively contribute to fortnightly departmental education meetings.


During a twelve-month period the appointee can expect to see all common urological oncology problems and pathologies, and in addition will see a variety of more unusual and general urology conditions.

The post holder will provide high quality care to patients in urology.

The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC registration.

To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.

To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care activities.

To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.

To take an active role in managing patient pathways in their respective area.

To undertake administrative duties associated with their patients in line with departmental guidelines.

To support with the training of junior specialist trainees and other junior doctors in the Urology department.

To oversee the appropriate booking of prostate cancer theatre lists.

To demonstrate excellent leadership skills within the wider urology team.

To work collaboratively with all members of the multi-disciplinary team and Imperial College as required.
