Where you fit in


You will be part of the 'European Power' team within SE-EA as an 'IT Advisor', which is a role that delivers the IT strategy and prioritising and launching new initiatives that maximize value and growth.

You will be responsible for framing complex business problems, establishing key value drivers, solution options and priorities then bringing teams together to build or buy software solutions.

It is ideally suited to someone who brings knowledge of the Power Trading business, has IT delivery experience, thinks strategically and can work in a fast-paced environment.

Knowledge of Power Generation technologies, especially battery storage are a significant advantage.


The 'European Power' team in Shell Energy Europe is a rapidly expanding team setup in 2018 to help the business grow and expand Power Trading and Renewable & Flexible Power Generation.

The European Power business's core focus is the trading and optimisation of electricity within Europe and it is enabled through world class technology and automation.

Based across London and Bangalore, the team is responsible for building and supporting the world class IT platform required to facilitate connections to power generation and storage, and the complex, real-time needs of trading power.


What's the role?


The
IT Advisor -
European Power supports the Shell Energy Europe Power IT Manager (ITM) & European Power Portfolio Managers (PPMs) to identify, realize, and protect value across the IT business portfolio.

The role drives rigor and discipline in the opportunity realization process to drive technology and data opportunities across European Power.

The role serves as a vertical integrator across Power Generation (Cleaner, renewable and/or flexible generation and storage), Power Trading & Optimisation (Flexibility and complex risk management solutions) and Sales & Marketing (B2B and B2C energy and integrated customer solutions) bringing together how solutions work across the full business lifecycle.


The IT Advisor demonstrates understanding of business vision, strategy and KPIs, balancing these with knowledge about the Enterprise IT vision, strategy, and prevailing technology standards.

Day-to-day the IT Advisor demonstrates curiosity about commercial problems and displays the requisite behaviors to drive Portfolio fulfilment of target KPIs.

Stakeholder Management

  • Supports the ITM & PPM with the management of a network of business and crossfunctional IT stakeholders, building and sustaining working relationships
  • Contributes to senior business stakeholder engagements by supporting the ITM & PPM to inform, influence, and challenge with datadriven insights
  • Applies a commercial mindset and an IT practitioner lens to working closely and collaboratively with business stakeholders (GM level) under ITM direction
  • Understands the importance of working across organisational boundaries to enable value and utilizes the business facing natural team to align IT in maximizing dollars invested
  • Builds rapport consciously, listens actively, and tells compelling stories; cocreates where necessary, contracts correctly, and challenges constructively across business, IT and cross functional stakeholders alike

Integrated IT and Business Strategy

  • Owns the evergreening of the IT Strategic Plan for European Power
  • Understands business KPIs and IT's strategic role in their fulfilment
  • Explores commercial and customer problems, determining possible technology and data investment or optimisation opportunities across the IT business portfolio
  • Understands the Enterprise IT strategy and associated standards for technology compliance and risk management
  • Demonstrates understanding of business change impacts from technology and data adoption and creates appropriate responses and mitigations during planning. Value Generation & Protection
  • Supports the ITM & PPM in the endtoend management of opportunity identification
