An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, highly motivated midwife who is passionate about working in collaboration with the obstetric and other multi-disciplinary teams to promote the ongoing development of maternal medicine services within the group network hub, based at ESTH.
The post holder will be expected to work as a specialist (enhanced) maternal medicine midwife and provide high quality, effective, holistic, women centred pregnancy care for women with weight management issues and Hypertension working 32hours /week.
In conjunction with the maternal medicine consultant(s) and associated multidisciplinary teams, the post holder will be responsible for providing midwifery care to pregnant women with complex co-morbidities and ensuring that communication between all parties involved is both timely and accurate.
Work with the local Maternal Medicine Clinical Lead and the Consultant Midwife to support the development of Maternal Medicine services across the sites, reflecting local and national guidance and agendaWork with other Maternal Medicine Specialist Midwives to provide mutual support and leadership across the Local Maternity System
Provide a clinical lead and role model to the midwifery team by demonstrating clinical excellence within midwifery practice as an expert practitioner
Be accountable for own professional practice and provide a resource for clinical and professional issues ensuring staff are afforded access to development opportunities
Implement, monitor and facilitate remedial action when necessary, and seek to continuously improve standards and the quality of care.
Contribute to and where appropriate lead developments in the Local Maternity System and the London Maternal Medicine Network in response to objectives and develop practice accordingly
Supervise and maintain accurate records
Demonstrate effective communication skills in highly distressing or emotional circumstances with women, families and midwives e.g. personal and health problems
Work with the Director/Head of Midwifery and the Clinical Governance Lead at the Trust and the Maternal Medicine Network Midwives to ensure that clinical governance processes at unit/dept level encompass measures to ensure the quality of the fundamental and essential aspects of care

Ensure all relevant midwifery staff maintain mandatory training requirements
Plan and facilitate education regarding Maternal Medicine across the Trust and Local Maternity System with partners
Ensure implementation of the Trusts Study Leave policy
Responsible for the induction and development of midwifery staff in this clinical area
Promote a positive learning environment within the clinical area
Maintain detailed and accurate records regarding staff education and attendance management
