Description

Working as an Ambulance Care Assistant is a highly rewarding role, allowing you to make a difference to the experience of patients living with illness or injury.


As an Ambulance Care Assistant,
you will be required to work on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. Shift patterns will be discussed at interview stage with the Station Manager.

This is a full time, permanent position working an average 35 hours per week between Monday to Sunday. Within this role you will be required to work bank holidays and weekends as per business requirements.


Key Responsibilities within the role:


  • Transport Patients to and from various treatment centres including; hospices, clinics, hospitals, care homes.
  • Deliver Extra Contractual journeys, long distance and cross boundary journeys including working beyond normal shift times from time to time, as needed for such journeys.
  • Ensure the welfare and safety of Patients with your level of training.
  • Complete all relevant/required documentation ensuring it is accurate and legible.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Liaise, communicate and cooperate with colleagues, Health Care and Medical Professionals in order to ensure the highest standard of Patient care.
  • Ensure vehicles are fully equipped, functioning and ready for use at commencement of each shift in accordance with the company procedures.
  • Clean equipment and clean vehicles inside and out and refuel them as required.
  • Clean, maintain and ensure proper care of any equipment, vehicles, uniform and any other equipment provided by the company in accordance with Infection Control Procedure.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and public image at all times.
  • Any other duty or training as reasonably assigned by the management.

Minimum Qualification / Experience

  • A Full UK (manual) driving licence held for over 2 years with less than 3 penalty points
  • Physically fit & able to lift / carry patients and equipment (training provided)
  • Great communication skills
  • Positive 'can do' attitude
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Able to handle sensitive situations
  • Good organisation skills
  • Reliable & trust worthy
  • Ability to work up to 12 hour shifts, including days and lates, sometimes at short notice
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced disclosure and barring check

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Recent experience (within last 2 years) of a patient caring role
  • Level 3 (3 day) First aid at work minimum, but training can be arranged
  • FREC3 / FPOSi / equivalent qualification or above, but training can be arranged
  • Previous Ambulance / medical experience (paid or voluntary within the last 2 years) an advantage
  • Have a good understanding of the local area (50 mile radius)

Salary:
£10.00-£12.00 per hour
