Accounts Assistant

As an Accounts Assistant, you'll be responsible for updating and maintaining our income and expenditure ledgers, which includes bookkeeping inside Xero, raising supplier and customer invoices, ensuring compliance with CIS (Construction Industry Tax Scheme), among other duties.

Supporting the finance and admin processing for the company, you'll work within finance to ensure the company has good financial control over our projects and all data is accurate and up to date.

You will also be required to maintain and produce reporting where required to track project progress.


Responsibilities

  • Monitoring and processing a variety of different types of invoices received into the accounts inbox into Xero and CMX (Construction Manager is the system we use for project accounting).
  • Approving and posting supplier invoices.
  • Reconciling Xero to supplier statements.
  • Raising customer invoices and matching against POs.
  • Month end checks and reconciliations
  • Processing weekly CIS subcontractor invoices and sending remittances.
  • CIS verification of subcontractors
  • Monthly bank and credit card reconciliation
  • Following up on outstanding invoices.
  • Checking client PO's against quotations and raising invoices.
  • Sourcing missing supplier invoices and bills.

Working hours


The working week is 37.5 hours based in our offices in Cambridge - some work from home can be considered as requested.


Experience & Qualifications

  • You will have at least 2 years bookkeeping experience.
  • Experience of using Xero would be an advantage but not essential.
  • AAT Qualification would be an advantage but not essential.

You'll need to show:


  • Strong communication skills for liaising with a range of clients and suppliers.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills for reporting and ensuring all financial information is accurate and up to date.
  • Resilience and problemsolving skills in order to overcome unexpected challenges.
  • An ability to make decisions under pressure when needed
  • Strong attention to detail for managing complex contracts.
  • Numerical and IT skills, including knowledge of relevant accounting software packages, MS
Office, Google Drive, Asana etc.

  • Ability to be organised and focused to ensure delivery under pressure.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Good at asking questions and checking details.
  • Is good at planning ahead and forward thinking.

Salary
Annual salary between £27,500 and £30,000 depending upon experience.


Employment Type:

37.5 hours, Full-time, Temp - permanent.


Leave:


  • 20 days plus bank holidays.
