Job summary

Why is this role important and how does it fit into the team, department and wider firm?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join our hugely successful and progressive catastrophic injury and complex claims team.

The team provide a range of high-quality legal services on complex and sensitive matters to three of the firm's top twenty clients.

You will report to experienced and highly rated Partners and Senior Associates across our complex and serious injury team.

The role involves a focus on the most interesting and challenging areas of defendant insurance litigation, to include providing support on claims of the utmost severity involving brain injuries, spinal injuries and chronic pain, some of which are valued up to £25m, as well as human rights issues, discrimination and data breaches.

This will include claims investigation, expert management and day-to-day focus on driving the claim to resolution in a streamlined manner with a laser focus on result delivery for our clients.

You will also provide support for a lead lawyer in more modest value multi-track claims.

The team has a particular focus on and clients relating to sporting injuries, EL and PL claims and niche areas of litigation.

What technical skills are required for someone to be successful and enjoy the role?

  • Qualified Solicitor with up to 1 year PQE or similar

Who would be a good fit for this role?
As part of the Technical Claims team, you would be expected to have the following skills and experience:

  • The ability to understand or quickly learn how to manage issues around policy coverage, legal liability, how to value a claim, managing and evaluating medical records and expert reports and management of a busy diary of activity
  • Attention to detail with the ability to explain/advise clients on complex technical aspects of process and procedure
  • Should be confident and able to work on own initiative and assume the responsibilities of a fee earner
  • Will need a flexible and professional attitude to work, be adaptable and able to work under pressure in a demanding role
  • Effective communicator, able to establish and maintain harmonious and professional relationships with clients and colleagues
  • Good organisational skills and be able to manage own time effectively
  • A proactive, professional and flexible approach to work
  • Keen to develop over a period of time with a willingness and ability to learn
  • Flexibility to work both from home and in the office, depending on client and firm needs
