Stevenage with the ability to work remotely

Starting Salary:
£55,916 p/a with the opportunity to progress to a maximum of £62,589 p/a

Hours: 37 per week

Are you an experienced Manager/Head of IT/Digital Services? We are looking for an exceptional leader, with a strong background of working within a complex organisation and managing a team with a diverse skill set.

With proven project management skills andan ability to alter the scope and process of projects and where appropriate, to ensure the best outcome for users and the organisation.

You will manage many deadlines, projects, and tasks simultaneously and have a strong strategic view of the team/Serviceand build a vision for the future.


You will be responsible for:

  • Management of the Fire Control programme, responsible for a collaborative mobilising system
  • Line management of two Support Manages, Technical Project Manager and Communications officer.
  • Managing and procuring of digital and IT contracts.
  • Designing and implementing policies that are clearly aligned with team and service priorities
  • Strong financial responsibility, you will oversee a capital budget circa £1.5 million and a revenue budget of £2.1million
  • Leading the team and the service on a continual improvement journey
  • Develop and implement the Digital Strategy and Road Map for Digital solutions for CPD (Community Protection Directorate) for the next five years.


Working within the Community Protection Directorate (CPD) of the Hertfordshire County Council (HCC) the Digital Services (DS) team is within Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service (HFRS).

CPD includes the following departments, Trading Standards, Herts Resilience,County Community Safety Unit and HFRS.

CPD is the lead authority for a collaborative mobilising system which supports Fire Control rooms and the delivery of operational response.


We'll need you to have a proven track record of delivering on multiple projects and be able to ensure work is carried out to a high standard.

You will have substantial management experience, detailed knowledge and experience in Information Technology.
