Job Title:
SEND Support Assistant


Salary:
£19,750 - Pro-rata


Reports to:
SEND Manager


Hours:
Full-time (Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.00pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm)


Job Purpose:


Due to continued growth and success, Skills Group currently has a position available for a full time SEND Support Assistant.

This is a rewarding role where you will be responsible for supporting post-16 learners with a variety of educational and learning needs.


You'll be a consummate professional, passionate about people development and focused upon delivering a high quality service to our customers.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaboration with class trainers to organise appropriate on and offsite activities in order to achieve and maintain high standards of education and training
  • Preparation of learning resources and activities across sites as necessary
  • Working with small groups of learners, and individuals on a onetoone basis as needed
  • Support personal development and preparing for adulthood activities
  • Reviewing and updating individual learning plans, and recording progress in line with agreed targets
  • Providing targeted support outside of the classroom and developing social/emotional skills
  • Completing and maintaining safe, secure and accurate records using ebased systems
  • To attend planned programmes of training and professional development in accordance with the Company's staff development programme

Person Specification:


  • You will have a good understanding of Special Educational Needs and Educational Inclusion and be resilient when faced with challenging and testing behaviors
  • A passion for working with Special Educational Needs children and young adults is essential, and previous working experience is expected for this role
  • Applicants will hold a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification as a minimum, and further credentials in working with specific Special Educational Needs would be welcome
  • Creative, proactive and flexible in support style to create a nurturing and caring connection with individuals
  • Excellent communication skills are required
  • You must be organised, with good time management and administrative skills, and the ability to work independently
  • It is essential that you are willing to travel, have your own car and possess a full, valid driving license
